Waving At Stoplights

I find it awkward arriving first to a stoplight at the same time as another rider at one of the other stoplights going another direction.  When do I wave?  Obviously not while stopping.  Waving while stopped just feels goofy.

The Triumph is just too fast to wave when the light turns green.

So what do you all do?

stop, hold the foot brake, wave with throttle hand. OR, the alternative - Head Nod.

Agreed - head nod.

Because I never take my hands off the bars when at a light, I always give a head nod. Something about being able to move quickly if I see a car running up my arse.

Had the exact situation occur to me on my commute home tonight - another scooter driver coming in the opposite direction. I could tell we both wanted to acknowledge the scooterhood, but there was a fine babe in a t-shirt and tight bluejeans helping some dude with mortar work on a chimney at a house on the corner.

Finally, he recognized why I wasn't paying that much attention to him, making that wave all the more important as we passed each other in the intersection.
Much easier to do with a twist-n-go tranny.

Definitely a nod. Save the 'low wave' for the cruise by.

Well, that depends on what they are riding. If it ain't a Harley, I snub them.

JUST KIDDING!

I ALWAYS give the head nod.

I go with the head nod. My particular awkward moment comes when I'm at a stoplight and someone on a bike is stopped next to me. I feel like I should say something to the bloke, but what? And it doesn't seem right to just ignore them either. Again, the head nod saves the day.

Agreed...head nod does the trick

(though if I ever ran into Mr M, I would definitely not acknowledge him in any manner! LOL-just kidding dude)

Head nod works best in a no free hands situation. Just don't nod to repetitive or you'll be mistaken for a bobble head! LOL!

Ok. Head nods are fine. However, the actual thing you will find hidden deep in motorcycle protocol lore is three short horn beeps.

This is an extension of passing another rider at night.
