Getting Ready For Next Spring

This guy is getting a last ride in before tucking his Harley in
for a long winter's nap.
While I was getting new tires put on the Triumph, it became obvious that I desperately need a new chain and sprockets too.  I remain hopeful that I'll be able to continue riding for a few more weeks before the snow flies, the chemicals get put down on the road, and I have to put the Triumph to bed for the winter.

I'm bringing the bike in this afternoon to have the new parts put on.  Between bad weather and having a cold, it's going to be the first time I've fired up the bike in a couple weeks.

Incidentally, late October is a great time to get work done on your bike here on the Middle Coast, because everyone else is winding down for the season.  I believe the service writer's exact words were, "Bring it in any time, our schedule is wide open now."

Excellent.

With any luck, I will get a window of reasonable weather so I can get out riding a few more times.  But if not, at least I'll be ready to ride next spring.

Putting one's motorcycle away for the Winter....interesting concept.

mq01 - Well, I guess I'm just going to have to find a way to stay distracted. But I'm hopeful the weather will be nice enough to allow a few more rides this season.

Charlie 6 - My understanding of riding a two-wheeled bike in the winter is this: the shiny side of the bike is going to meet the ground at some point. I'm not willing to do that to the Triumph. It might be different if I had a sidehack...

Lucky, oh I understand the two-wheeled aversion to unseen ice patches, only too well. Just saying that unless the snow sticks all Winter....one can ride a two-wheeled steed in between snow storms, once the roads are nice and dry....

Winter is just as good as any other season xD

Here in Portugal, we have lots of rain and low snowfall but we manage to escape to the highlands with our rides to taste the snow. Call us crazy, but we ride all year long.

But I understand your worries ;)
