It would be really great to set up a communal garage dedicated to working on motorcycles. The pooled resources could buy tools the average shade-tree mechanic can't justify, and everyone could learn a bit from each other.
I'm thinking if we had one of them here the best I'd be able to contribute would be some peanut butter and bacon sandwiches for the guys who know what they're doing.
I seem to recall a few years ago (10? 15?) there was a movement afoot to do something like this for auto mechanics. The "club' would hire mechanics to come and supervise on occasion, providing advise and direction to anyone who wnated help. I always thought it was a good idea, but since I haven't heard of it in years, I expect it didn't fly.
Joe - It's amazing how far a PB&B can get you... Especially if you also supply PBR.
Canajun - That would be cool too. I know I could have used a mechanic advisor back when I tried to change the water pump in my Mustang. I couldn't get the pulley off of the alternator for ANYTHING...

All the same, I wish there was a place like that here in Phoenix - especially if they've got techs on hand who are more knowledgeable than me. :D

Maybe an on-line motorcycle/scooter tech help sorta thing can help...something like a forum but with volunteers taking and answering questions
