What is Best in Life?

We're all familiar with Conan's timeless response to the question, "What is Best in Life?"

For most of us, though, "seeing our enemies driven before us" has been replaced by, "seeing our enemies driving before us." And really, I think there are things better than brutally conquering one's enemies.

Motorcycles, for example.

And so, I present my list of responses to the question above.

  • 30 MPH in a 15 MPH curve
  • Hitting the power band
  • 140 MPH and fuel economy
  • Scraping Footpegs
  • Sitting quietly at the top of a mountain, moments before riding back down
  • Peak torque
  • 1/8 inch Chicken Strips
  • Waving
  • Motojabber
  • The first slice of pizza at the end of a ride

30 in a 15? What ever happened to "2x+10"? Frogwing and I do paved fifteens at forty all the time. I suppose you have more sand on the roads down there in AZ, huh?

Ride well,
=gc=

Well, there are MARKED 15 mph corners, and then there are the "We actually mean it this time" 15 mph corners that give Minivan drivers and tourists heart palpitations.

I was referring to the latter.

...and yes, sand in the apex has given ME heart palpitations a couple times.

-sliding the rear wheel in a turn, flattrack-style

-timing my upshifts with entering a tunnel for maximum volume

-hearing the lamentations of the women (gotta go with Conan on that one)

I was wondering if anyone else noticed how different turns marked with slow speed cautions can be. The first time I took a 25MPH curved offramp in Sacramento, CA, I darn-near ended-up offroad.
