Someone keeps bringing up that Ducati is introducing a 695cc version of the Monster, for the same price as the 620.
Dammit, why do they have to be so expensive to maintain? It's not right, I tells ya!
I expect that when I finally get my bike, it'll be a Triumph, but I'm always going to secretly want a Ducati...

Hey! Get the Duc. They are not that expensive to maintain (they do have more frequent service intervals but you don't need to adjust the valves every time).
If you love Ducs then nothing else will do.

With the new motor, the interval is extended another 2500 miles as well. Sides, some Ebay shopping will net you the tools for the cost of the first maintenance, then it is a matter of a little patience and careful reading of the manual.
