Most frustrating.
I'm going to give up on eBay for this bike, because I've got too much into it to make a tantalizing offer on eBay. So, Craigslist it is.
I'm bummed, but I think I've learned a few things. I'll unload the Vespa, and then I guess I'll try, try again with eBay.

Knowing nothing about eBay, I may be way off, but isn't the trick to build up a sort of a reputation on eBay? Have you sold a lot of other stuff that way?
Don't give up hope. you have a good scoot, it's just that the whole world is caught up in the "credit crunch". Credit card defaults are up, auto loan delinquency is up, 1/6th of all mortgages are "underwater" (meaning they owe more than their home is worth), people are just not spending. things may sort themselves out over the next month or two, but presently things have gone down in spite of the $700B bank bailout. (sorry for the rambling)
otherwise, it may be a good time to purchase another scoot as it may be "priced" right, and sell yours later

bobskoot - Yeah, that's what I've been figuring. I'm going to list it for sale locally, because I don't have to get as much for it without the eBay fees. I haven't given up yet.
I agree with bobskoot... don't give up... with the economy in the tank, scooters will only become more popular. On Ebay it's all about finding the right person who is looking for what you've got. I recently sold my car and it took 3 months and whole lot of BS offers. I stuck it out and finally I got my asking price...

I've got Sophie up for sale. Haven't tried eBay. It's been on Craigslist and the Cycle Trader, both print and online. In a month I've had one call. Of course, I don't want to give her away, either. Maybe I've got her priced to keep! Still, nobody's even called to try to negotiate. Must be too big a bike.
I'd think scooters would be going well right now, too.
Damn, Lucky. If I didn't live 1800 miles away, I might seriously consider that scooter. I'm thinking I need another one for those times my current scooter is getting service work.
noam - I can get the bike shipped to the Twin Cities for about $600...
